Ink: Poetry inspired by the imagery Many of the photographs in the Light Shadow and Ink collection have haiku poems connected to them, either written about the moment that the photograph was taken or later, as a reflection of the image. Why haiku? Xanda explains: "As explained by the artist: "Why photography and poetry? Well, I started doing the haiku's in order to understand the essence of Zen, and I found that it helped greatly. I found that writing and keeping track of how I am feeling at one particular time has been very helpful in terms of monitoring my progress. It is also linked to the idea that practice is essential. I understand writing to be an activity of the spirit and an important part of our emotional make-up." To this end, another phase of this art project is the Emotional Record of Humanity. The poetry section of this site is still under construction with more haiku coming soon. Current photos with haiku include: Benone Sun The Bite Blue Towers The Heart Lisa's Sunrise Orange Glow Pagode Quido's Way |
